I haven’t been designing much this year except the current layout at Amour Chaleur you are looking at and a few random cartoons and comics. I really like this candy house layout hence it’s going to stay till June when I’ve the time to put together a new one. So I’ve been spending some time during the past month to work on a customised layout for Diana at molemole.sg. She didn’t gave me a theme or anything so it’s just freestyle for me. I’ve only met her once or twice but she seems like a really happy, friendly and cheery person so the huge orange sun seems like a good idea to me.
It’s a beach theme with a bit of woody feeling. It wasn’t the kind of design that I had on Amour Chaleur with splashes of colours all over. I thought it was something different from my usual colour schemes. I love taking on projects like these because every project is a learning experience for me. I get to draw new things I’ve not drawn before, like the coconut tree, slippers and seashells.
I seems to draw the weirdest thing. Bird with a black magician hat on the beach? Definitely not something realistic but then again, cartoons open the door to imagination and the unexplainable.
Some may be slightly confused by the header because I have combined the sky, ocean and land together. I reckon if you are looking far away from a beach, you will somehow see the sky right above the sea too! Let’s also just say I’m kind of jealous of the layout because it looks nicer than my candy house.
With that said, pop by to molemole.sg and check out the layout live!

Oh my goodness it is adorable! What a cute layout! I absolutely love it! You did a fantastic job! Diana is lucky to have such a fun layout like that!

Whoa Dayna! I SUPER LOVE YOUR WORK! Seriously, I envy you for having the talent and all the skills. Sigh. I love how summer-ish the layout is. Totally reminds me of the beach and the heat of the sun!

Wow! I just saw Diana published an entry on her new design. I think it looks great! As usual, you did an excellent job with the header and the footer. The illustrations are of top-notch quality and what really makes me love it a lot are the blue rolling waves in the header. How cute!
p/s: Anyway, have you wrote an email to the blog owner about the design? It’s really very wrong of her to rip off your design completely (and changing the hue doesn’t make it any more unique). I feel sorry about that and I hope she’ll remove that design as soon as possible

Thanks Terry! It really makes me happy to know that both Diana and her readers like it.
I couldn’t find the email myself till Ivy Google it for me (now I know, when in doubt, always Google) so I actually left her a message on her ask me page. I’m not sure if it went through again because I don’t understand a word. I actually emailed the company hosting her blog hoping they will can help to inform her of the situation. I will email her if I don’t hear a reply soon. Beside the copyright issues, linking directly to my WordPress and plugins’ scripts is giving my site lots of unnecessary server requests/hits.
That’s why I was so frustrated last night!

I love your layouts. I wish I had your talent (well… I suppose I could practice but that takes effort….) My favorite part is definitly the bird with the magician hat. The world would be so boring if we only drew what was realistic… (At this point we would have to start chasing down birds and forcing them to wear hats and pandas to wear crowns which I imagine is harder to do than it sounds).
